AeroSpec places 4th in startup competition

The AeroSpec team, cofounded by Sep Makhsous and Jiayang (Joe) He, ECE and ME PhD students in ME faculty member Igor Novosselov’s lab, won the $5,000 Fenwick & West fourth place prize at the 2019 Dempsey Startup Competition for their real-time air quality monitoring system. Their device also collects airborne nanoparticles into a transparent cartridge for the in-depth pollutant analysis.

ME alum receives 2019 UW Graduate School Medal

Alumnus Brandon Tuan Nguyen, BSME '15, has received the 2019 UW Graduate School Medal for his efforts to combine academic scholarship with social awareness and his contribution to redefining the value of a doctoral degree.
